Former Newport Man Sentenced For Child Pornography Possession
William Normandin, 44, of Chelmsford, was caught with more than 800 pictures of child pornography when his former Newport home was searched.
NEWPORT, RI — A Massachusetts man was sentenced Tuesday to two years in prison after being caught with more than 800 pictures of child sexual abuse while he was living in Newport.
William Normandin, 44, of Chelmsford, Massachusetts, pleaded guilty on Aug. 17, 2021, in federal court to possession of child pornography.
In August 2020, Homeland Security Investigations and Rhode Island State Police learned an IP address used by Normandin was flagged for child pornography. Authorities searched Normandin's Newport home in October 2020 and found more than 800 images depicting child pornography on his phone. The children were prepubescent age.
