Get Ready to Rock the Fort this Summer, Newport
Two concerts plus weekly free performances on Thursdays will benefit the restoration of historic Fort Adams.
A new concert series at Fort Adams, Newport Rocks the Fort, will kick off this summer with a pair of concerts featuring both tribute and national acts and dozens of shows and performances in a series of free concerts on Thursdays.
Proceeds from all concerts will support the restoration of historic Fort Adams β also the venue for the infinitely popular Newport Folk Festival.
The shows β June 29 and Aug. 29 β will include John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band, Another Tequila Sunrise, Rick Derringer, Hey Nineteen and more names to be announced.
"As you'll arrive you'll enjoy Chakulla and the Hunger BusΒ providing entertainment and collecting non perishable canned goods for the RI Food bank.β" said concert producerΒ Dale J. DeJoy in a release. "We wanted the opportunity to help people in as many ways as possible. We welcomed the Hunger Bus to get food to those who need it, while ticket sales help restoration of the Fort.βThe concerts will include a food court serving Rhode Island favorites as well as βconcert casual foodβ from local vendors. The event will have alcohol service. Tickets are $35.
βNewport Rocks the Fort Sundown Thursdaysβ are free concerts set on the Fortβs North lawn. Starting at 6:00 PM and ending shortly after the sunset, talented musicians and other performers from Newport and beyond will share their talent. Tom C. Erb, Newport City Limits event producer notes, βThe entertainment will include solo acts, bands, comedians and more. Weβve got tremendous talent in Newport, and this is such a great stage on which to perform.β
