NEWPORT, RI — Halloween is just over a week away, which means it's time to finish up your costume, stock up one candy and put your pumpkin-carving skills to the test. If you're looking for something fun to do to get in the spooky spirit, consider checking out one of these fun, family friendly events happening on Aquidneck Island, courtesy of Discover Newport.

  • Escobar's Highland Farm Halloween Party
    • Oct. 26
    • 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
    • Where: 133 & 255(GPS) Middle Rd., Portsmouth
    • This party will be fun for the whole family! Come in costume to receive $1 off admission. Rain date is Oct. 27.
  • Howl-O-Ween Dog Stroll and Social
    • Oct. 26
    • 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
    • Where: 92 William St., Newport
    • Admission to this event is free. Bring your best-dressed pup to meet up at the Wag patio, for snacks, drinks and prizes.
  • Newport Police Haunted Train Ride
    • Oct. 29
    • Trains depart 6 p.m. and 7 p.m.
    • Where: train station at 19 Americas Cup Ave.
    • Tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Call 401-847-1306 to reserve tickets. Trains depart Costumes are encouraged!
  • Fort Adams Trunk-or-Treat
    • Oct. 27
    • 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
    • Fort Adams State Park
    • Hone your trick-or-treating skills and stock up on candy at this fun trunk-or-treat event. Costumes are a must!
  • Herreshoff Marine Museum Halloween Scavenger Haunt
    • Oct. 27
    • 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
    • 1 Burnside St, Bristol
    • Admission to this fun event is free. Come enjoy Halloween activiites including a scavenger hunt, face painting, pumpkin decorating and more.
