RHODE ISLAND — Thousands of Rhode Islanders are still without power on Friday morning, in the wake of a powerful storm that swept through the region Wednesday night into Thursday morning. Emergency crews across the state have been working across the state to clear roads made impassable by fallen trees and limbs.

As of Friday morning, 7,590 National Grid customers are still in the dark. Restoration efforts were hampered by strong winds gusts on Thursday, the company said.

In Massachusetts, peak wind gusts hit 90 mph during the worst of the storm. While Rhode Island didn't see wind gusts that high, powerful, 70 mph gusts were recorded in South County, and some areas saw as much as four inches of rain in just a few hours. Here's a look at rainfall totals and peak wind gusts, by town. Towns with several rainfall measurements reflect multiple reports from the area.
