Honoring Rhode Island's World War I Veterans
Rhode Island World War One Centennial Commission Meets at State House

Appointed commissioners of the Rhode Island World War One Centennial Commission (RIWW1CC) met with Governor Gina M. Raimondo at the Rhode Island State House in Providence to brief her on the commission's efforts to commemorate the service and sacrifice of Rhode Island's World War I veterans. Governor Raimondo emphasized her commitment to honoring all veterans, past and present.
Members of the commission include: Roger Beaudry, American-French Genealogical Society; James Cunha, Rhode Island League of Cities and Towns; Donna DiMichele, Rhode Island Office of Library and Information Services (OLIS); GinaMarie Doherty, past commander of the Rhode Island Department of the Veterans of Foreign Wars; Geralyn Ducady, Rhode Island Historical Society; Sen. Walter Felag, Jr.; Chairman of the Special Legislation and Veteran's Affairs Committee and representative of the President of the Rhode Island State Senate; Sharon Henderson, VFW Auxiliary Post 916; David Kohnen, Director of the John B. Hattendorf Center for Maritime Historical Research at the United States Naval War College; Master Sergeant James Loffler, Historian of the Rhode Island National Guard; Matthew B. McCoy, Rhode Island Department of the Veterans of Foreign Wars; Christine Lopes Metcalf, Rhode Island Department of Education; Glenn Modica, Rhode Island Historical Preservation and Heritage Commission; Rebecca Ryan, Office of the Postsecondary Commissioner; Ella Whaley, VFW Auxiliary Post 916; David Williams, Rhode Island Department of the American Legion; Kasim Yarn, Rhode Island Office of Veterans Affairs. Governor Gina M. Raimondo chairs the commission.
