After Newport Fatal Accident Jamestown Teen Will Face Traffic Tribunal

The Jamestown youngster will face charges in traffic tribunal after he allegedly struck and killed 83-year old Donald Ritter in a crosswalk.

NEWPORT, RI—The 17-year old Jamestown teen who allegedly struck and killed Donald Ritter, 83, of Newport, in a crosswalk on Feb. 8 will face charges, Newport police said Tuesday.

Ritter died at Rhode Island Hospital on Feb. 16. He was in a crosswalk near Caleb Earl Street and on his way across Broadway when the car hit him.

The teenager has not been identified. He is being charged with three violations: Failing to Yield at a Crosswalk, a Provisional License Violation and Possession of Marijuana.

All three violations will be heard at Rhode Island Traffic Tribunal.
