Juvenile Charged for Felony Assault with Skateboard
Police said the 15-year-old Newport boy attacked a 28-year-old man in the Waterfront parking lot.

A 15-year-old Newport boy was charged Wednesday for felony assault with a dangerous weapon for allegedly attacking a man with a skateboard in a city public parking lot earlier this month.
Police said the juvenile allegedly struck the 28-year-old victim in the face with the skateboard, causing several lacerations.
According to a police report, police were dispatched to the St. Mary parking lot on Aug. 8 at around 10:21 and found the victim, who was intoxicated.

The victim said he was approached by a group of juveniles and assaulted for no reason.
He said he was punched or kicked in the face and subsequently hit with a skateboard.

The victim was treated by paramedics at the scene and detectives began their investigation.
Police said they were able to identify several suspects and confirmed the 15-year-old juvenile’s involvement after a review of security camera footage.
The matter will be adjudicated in Family Court.
