Juvenile Charged with Vandalism for Hitting Building with Shovel

A 17-year-old juvenile was charged with vandalism Tuesday after he allegedly smacked the side of a building with a shovel.

Police said they got a report from a woman who said she was inside the building at 88 Dr. Marcus Wheatland Blvd. when she heard a loud bang at around 3:20 p.m.

The woman looked outside and saw a teenage male walking away from the building carrying a shovel.

The building suffered damage to some wood lattice, police said, and the suspect gave her a dirty look as he left the scene on foot.

Police soon found the suspect about 20 minutes later as he walked north on Dr. Marcus Wheatland Blvd. and the woman who reported the incident positively identified him.

The juvenile was arrested and the matter will be adjudicated in family court.
