La Forge Casino Restaurant To Change Ownership
Peter Crowley declined comment on Saturday about rumors he is selling the restaurant, but the liquor license transfer was published Tuesday.

NEWPORT, RI — If you've ever been to Newport, chances are good you've had lunch or an ice cream sundae at La Forge Casino Restaurant on Bellevue Avenue. Rumors have swirled that the Crowley family, which has owned the establishment some 35 years, had decided to sell it. On Saturday, Peter Crowley replied, "No comment. No comment at this time," when Patch inquired.
But Tuesday morning, the liquor license transfer notice was published in the local newspaper. According to the advertisement, the license is staying on the same premises, and the new owner is billionaire Nicholas Schorsch. (Technically, the transfer is to 1899, LLC, (Thames Capital Ventures, LLC 51% (Nicholas Schorsch 100% membership) and Aquidneck Holdings, LLC 49% (Nicholas Schorsch 100% membership),
Schorsch owns many properties, among them the Audrain Auto Museum nearby. A hearing on the license transfer is set for April 26.
