Loud Party on Third Street Ends with Summons & Arrest
A Newport man was arrested on a warrant after police responded to a noise complaint at his house.

NEWPORT, RI—JoseMejia, 29, of Newport, was arrested on Easter Sunday at 2:30 a.m. after police responded to a noise complaint. A neighbor had called officers about loud music and people singing behind a house on Third Street. Mejia was identified by his Guatamalan passport, police said, as wanted on a warrant from Newport District Court.
According to the arrest records, he had been charged with Driving Under the Influence, first offense. The court issued the warrant back on Jan. 31, 2014.
He was also given a summons for a noise violation.
