Man Arrested on Domestic

NEWPORT, RI -- Police on Thursday arrested Jihad Nelson, 20, of Newport, over a complaint made on Sept. 30 at 7:49 p.m.

According to the report, Nelson quarreled with a woman who had asked him to give her a ride. They were walking on Shimoda Way when he allegedly tried to grab her baby stroller. When she attempted to call for help, he reportedly snatched her telephone.

Nelson was charged with domestic simple assault and battery; refusal to relinquish a telephone and larceny under $1,500, police said.
