The 2016 Spring Life of the Mind Salon Series concludes on May 18 with Marian Mathison Desrosiers,Ph.D., independent scholar and Adjunct Professor of History and Humanities at Salve Regina University, will speak on Newport notable, John Banister and discuss how this eighteenth-century Newport merchant changed colonial lives.
Marian Mathison Desrosiers is an independent scholar and Adjunct Professor of History and Humanities at Salve Regina University, where she earned her Ph.D. She is a former executive board member of the National Council for Social Studies and a two-time Fulbright Scholar. Dr. Desrosiers has researched and published on women in positions of leadership during wartime and in the judiciary, 19th century Irish immigration, and colonial Newport.
