Newport Child Airlifted To Hasbro Hospital After Car Accident
A boy was injured in a car accident in Newport on Friday afternoon.

NEWPORT, RI— A 7-year-old child was injured in a car accident on Friday afternoon. He was taken to the hospital by helicopter. His condition is not known.
Police said they were called for a motor vehicle accident involving a bicycle.
According to deputy fire Chief Brian Dugan, at 3:01 p.m., a caller reported a child hit by a car on Hillside Avenue. The rescue was on scene in three minutes, and the decision was made to call for a Life Star Emergency Medical Helicopter from Hartford, Conn. The rescue took the youngster to the Newport Grand where a landing area was established. The helicopter arrived at 3:30 p.m. and took the patient to Rhode Island Hospital.
