NEWPORT, RI -- John August Edick, 24, of Middletown was arrested on Sunday at 1:53 a.m. near the corner of Bliss Road and Eustis Avenue, according to Newport police.  He was charged with driving under the influence, his first offense, and with refusal to take a chemical test, a second offense.

Police stopped a driver near the corner of Bliss Road and Eustis Avenue shortly before 2 a.m. Sunday.
