Moveable Feasts

Stoneacre Pantry moves to former Yesterday's location at Washington Square; La Vasca opens in Stoneacre's Thames Street spot.

NEWPORT, RI—Stoneacre Pantry is moving and changing its name, according to owners Christopher Bender and David Crowell.

The new eatery, to be called just Stoneacre, is described as a "Brasserie-style Restaurant in Newport's Washington Square." It's moving into the space Yesterday's used to occupy and will open in late spring or early summer.

They have big plans for the space.

"Updating the existing historic facade and working to create a direct connection to Washington Square, the new space will pay homage to both the building’s history and the late Victorian ornamentation derived from Stoneacre's namesake (the former Bellevue Avenue estate designed in 1884 by famed landscape architect Frederick Law Olmstead )" (sic), they said.

Meanwhile, Stoneacre’s Thames Street restaurant has already re-opened as La Vasca, a Basque-style Restaurant.
