New Restrooms Drop Into Newport's Miantonomi Park
The new restrooms are identical to those at the Cliff Walk's 40 Steps.

NEWPORT, RI — New restrooms have arrived in Newport's Miantonomi Park. The new building was dropped in by crane last week. Once hooked up, it will provided much-needed facilities for the popular public area.
According to city officials, the new restrooms will be connected to the existing sewer line; no composting toilets needed. The city hopes the restrooms will allow for expanded offerings and events at the park, the largest in Newport. Setup is underway and the restrooms could be operational as soon as next week.
The restrooms are part of a larger improvement project for the park that includes a new ADA-compliant sidewalk, bike racks and a bottle filler. The new building was paid for by a $100,000 recreation grant from the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management. The project builds on other recent improvements to the area such as a new plafield, the restoration of trails and a new gravel trail that connects the park to the Bike Newport barn.
