Newport Bridge Approach Going Dark Overnight

Power will be cut to the Eastern half of the bridge approach overnight on June 12, starting at 11 p.m.

NEWPORT, RI — The Rhode Island Bridge and Turnpike Authority will cut power to half of the Newport Bridge approach during the overnight hours on Wednesday. The outage will last from 11 p.m. until 4 a.m. and will only affect the eastbound apprach will be affected.

The outage is needed for maintenance and upgrades to the electrical system on Sycamore Street. The deck lights, gantry signs and speed limit signs will be turned off.

The bridge itself and the western approach will not be affected by the electrical outage.
