Newport Bridge: Deck Construction To Take A Break June 29
Cars stood still Monday shortly before noon waiting on the approach to the tolls on the Jamestown side. But traffic moved on the bridge.

NEWPORT, RI — The bridge deck job is supposed to stop for the summer on June 29. That means one more week of struggling with traffic? Newport police this morning tweeted about the traffic at morning and afternoon rush hours. Congestion is supposed to be at its worst then. But Monday, as late as 10:45 a.m. traffic was heavy and slow coming into Newport from Jamestown. Then around noon, Route 138 in Jamestown was a parking lot approaching the toll plaza. By then, though, the traffic was moving on the bridge itself.
Let Patch know how you've found the conditions if you've been traveling over the bridge.
