Newport Illuminated Boat Parade Canceled

NEWPORT, RI — After being rescheduled once, the Newport Illuminated Boat Parade will not be happening this holiday season, city officials said.

City officials said gale-force winds are in the forecast for Saturday, which is the same reason the parade had to be re-scheduled on Black Friday.

Despite the parade being canceled, the city will keep the giving season alive that's usually associated with the event.

Newport will continue accepting donations through the weekend for their annual food drive benefitting the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center. Food donations can be dropped off at the Newport Harbormaster's Office.
