Newport is Open for Business

In the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, many shops, attractions and restaurant owners were busy taking down protective plywood, removing sandbags, restocking merchandise and setting up for business as usual in Newport Tuesday morning. 

The Newport Visitors Center at 23 America’s Cup Avenue is open; The Breakers, The Elms, Marble House, Rosecliff and Chateau-sur-Mer will open today at 12 p.m. and the International Tennis Hall of Fame and Museum is open. The four major convention hotels all have power and are welcoming guests, as are many inns and bed and breakfasts throughout Newport and Bristol County.

The Newport Pell Bridge, Sakonnet Bridge and Mount Hope Bridge are all open.

TF Green Airport in Warwick reports a number of flights have been impacted with delays or cancellations. Check with your airline for the most up to date flight information. Normal operations at the airport are expected to resume on Wednesday, October 31.

Though most Amtrak service in the Northeast remains suspended on Tuesday, an announcement of limited service restoration along the Northeast Corridor will be made this afternoon.  All RIPTA bus lines are to expect minor delays as hurricane cleanup continues.
