Newport Jazz Festival Tickets on Sale Now

Tickets for the 2015 Newport Jazz Festival are now on sale for opening day, Friday July 31.

Tickets are $40 for general admission and the lineup features, so far, Kneebody, Snarky Puppy and “other artists who are emerging in the popular vein, while still maintaining time-honored jazz traditions,” a release stated.

Last year was the first of the “Friday at the Fort” events that introduced full-day music on the Friday to start the festival, which runs through Sunday.

This past year was the 60th anniversary of the festival and producer George Wein said the Friday concerts were highly successful.

“What we created at the 60th anniversary festival has become the most exciting addition to the jazz festival in many years,” said George Wein, producer of the Newport Jazz Festival since its beginning in 1954. “More than 2,500 people attended the Friday concerts at Fort Adams this past summer, and the spirit they brought was unbridled.”

Wein and his staff of took the opportunity of the Friday concerts to present “the panorama of energy and talent” from emerging artists who are pushing new directions.

With a $40 general admission ticket and a $20 student ticket available for Friday at the Fort, we have fostered an event that has caught the attention of the global public and jazz media alike,” Wein added.

General admission tickets for Friday at the Fort go on sale Tuesday, November 25, at 10:00 am at www.newportjazzfest.org and www.ticketmaster.com.

Service charges apply. In addition, jazz fans in the Newport area can purchase tickets at the Newport Visitor Information Center, 23 America’s Cup Avenue

(www.discovernewport.org). Reserved seating is not available on Friday. There are no service charges on tickets purchased in person at the Visitor Center.

Flex tickets, which can be used for general admission on any day at Fort Adams events, are also on sale on-line and in Newport at the Visitor Center. While supplies last, music lovers can buy Flex tickets now and decide later which day they want to attend. The Flex ticket is not valid on reserved seats, or for the Friday evening concert at the International Tennis Hall of Fame at the Newport Casino. Flex tickets are $55 for Adults, $ 20 for Students and $15 for Children. Regularly priced Adult tickets will be $74 for Saturday and Sunday.
