Newport Lands on Travel and Leisure's "Best Towns for the Holidays" List

The magazine cited the City by the Sea's romance and "upper-crust" history.

It will come as no surprise to many, but Newport has been named as one of America’s “Best Towns for the Holidays” by Travel and Leisure Magazine.

The magazine noted Newport’s history, food scene and overall romantic vibe during the holiday season, recommending readers visit the Newport Mansions to enjoy “sumptuous trees, fine china and decorations.”

And it said the holiday season is a “good time to try Newport’s high-ranking restaurants like the locally sourced Tallulah on Thames” for its three-course prix fixe family dinner night on Sundays, the magazine noted.

Newport ended up 14th on the list, which puts it in the middle of the pack. But Newporters would argue that it probably should be higher, since there’s plenty more to do here during the holiday’s than what Travel and Leisure listed.
