Newport Lions - 93 Years of Service

On Thursday, March 2016 will be celebrating their 93rd of serving the community

The Newport Lions will meet this Thursday, March 24th at The Mainstay Hotel and Conference Center. The organization was first chartered in 1923.

District 42 Lions District Governor Mary Ann Hutchins will be inducting three new members and two Lions Cubs during the club's dinner meeting.

The Newport Lions do yearly eye screening in Aquidneck Island Schools. Citizens in need receive funding for eye exams and eyeglasses, and recycled eyeglasses are distributed worldwide. Each year a $4,000 scholarship is awarded to a Newport graduating senior. The club contributes to Operation Stand Down RI, The Seamen's Church Institute, The Edward King House Senior Center and the FIDELCO Guide Dog Foundation.
