The Portsmouth Fire Department responded to the area after a 911 call at 7:46 p.m., O’Brien said, and responders weren’t sure of the exact location of the crash. They were soon joined by members of the Middletown Fire Department, who started looking from the southern end of the road as Portsmouth began from the north.
Portsmouth police located the accident scene near Weaver Cove. The original 911 caller had stayed with the victim to wave down responders, O’Brien said.
