Newport Man Charged for Domestic Assault

Newport police charged Stefon A. Douglas Jenkins, 24, of 18 John Chafee Blvd., with domestic simple assault and domestic disorderly conduct July Thursday at 1:48 a.m.

Police said Jenkins grabbed and shoved a woman against a wall at the intersection of Spring and Brewer Streets.

The incident occurred in view of police in the area, according to a police report.

Jenkins was held for arraignment Thursday and later released on surety bail. He was ordered to return to Second Division District Court on July 28 for a pretrial conference.

A no-contact order was also issued.
