Newport Man Charged with Violating NCO
Police said Devon McNeal was arrested Wednesday night after he approached a woman he is barred from contacting.
A 19-year-old Newport man was charged with violating a no-contact order on Wednesday night.
Police said Devon McNeal, of 32 Edgar Court, Newport, approached a woman that he is supposed to stay away from as he rode his bike down Broadway at around 8:45 p.m.
The victim, identified by police as a 19-year-old Middletown woman, told police that she was walking on Broadway when McNeal approached, got off of his bike, kicked her in the leg, slapped her in the face and left.

Police caught up with McNeal a short time later near Newport Hospital.
A check revealed he was ordered not to have contact with the woman as a result of a previous court case.

Gomes was taken into custody without incident and later released on $2,500 surety bail.
