Kara Lessels, a resident of Newport, RI, and member of Assumption College’s Class of 2015, received the Paul Ziegler Award in European History at the College’s 31st Annual Honors Convocation. 72 students were recognized for academic excellence during the ceremony, which was held on campus in the Chapel of the Holy Spirit. Awards ranged from departmental honors to special subject-specific recognitions, to Augustine Scholarships, the College’s highest academic honor.
Anne Brady ‘85, a strategic consultant and advisor at OpenBridge and keynote speaker for the event, shared her thoughts on the value of a liberal arts education.
“The annual Honors Convocation is a celebration and recognition of the excellence achieved by our students across the whole range of Assumption College’s liberal arts, science, and pre-professional programs,” said Interim Provost Louise Carroll Keeley, Ph.D. “There is no better indicator of the importance of liberal arts education for our society than the thoughtful and compassionate dispositions that are nurtured here at Assumption and will be realized in our students’ professional lives.”
