Newport Native Honored with University of Scranton Alumni Award.
The awards were presented at a ceremony at its Alumni Weekend 2015, held on campus recently.

Megan Morgan of Newport was among the five individuals honored with The University of Scranton Frank J. O’Hara Alumni Award. The awards were presented at a ceremony at its Alumni Weekend 2015, held on campus recently.
The Frank J. O’Hara Alumni Award is named in honor of Frank J. O’Hara ‘25, who served as an administrator at the University for 53 years. It is the highest honor bestowed jointly by the University and the Alumni Society. The 2015 recipients of the award are: Linda Mathers McGowan of Morrisville, class of 1980; Frank A. Milani, M.D., of Clarks Green, class of 1955; Megan Morgan of Newport, Rhode Island, class of 1995 and graduate class of 1997; Vincent F. Reilly, Esq., of Philadelphia, class of 1980, and Maryjane Rooney of Scranton, class of 1980.
A native of Scranton, Morgan is the associate commissioner for communications for the American Athletic Conference.

With 21 sports at 11 universities, The American Athletic Conference encompasses one of the largest geographic footprints in Division I intercollegiate athletics. Morgan is responsible for the conference’s public relations strategy and execution, external communications and brand marketing.
She began her career in research and development at Titleist, focusing on their line of golf balls, the company’s flagship product. She then became Titleist’s first ever director of tour communications, where she worked with professional golfers and the media, and had responsibility for the company’s own online content.

Morgan, who earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in biochemistry from the University, holds two patents and has been published in The Journal of Physical Chemistry.
Her alumni service includes terms as vice president and secretary of The Alumni Society of The University of Scranton. Morgan is a member of the Magis Society and the University’s President Business Council, and is a supporter of the annual Carlesimo Golf Tournament and Award Dinner.
