Newport PD Promoted 4 Police Officers
One officer moved up to captain, and one moved up to lieutenant. Two others are promoted to sergeant rank.
NEWPORT, RI — Four Newport police officers were given promotions on Friday in a ceremony at Ochre Court. The police department said the ceremony was scheduled for 10 a.m. at 16 Ochre Point Ave. The Newport PD also swore in its newest member, Ofc. Justin Vachon.
Here are the promotions.
Promotion to the rank of Captain: 22 year veteran, Capt. Charles Silvia.
Promotion to the rank of Lieutenant: 12 year veteran, Lt. Kevin Moreira.
Promotion to the rank of Sergeant: 14 year veteran, Sgt. Jason Brown.
Promotion to the rank of Sergeant: 16 year veteran, Sgt. Eric Geoghegan.
