Newport Police Arrest Couple in Double Domestic
A Newport man and woman were both arrested after their quarrel turned physical, police said.

NEWPORT, RI—Carlos G. Acosta, 29, of Pawtucket, and Natalie A. Lembert, 25, of Newport, were charged April 5 at 8:45 a.m. at her Newport residence. He was charged with a felony for Domestic Simple Assault and Battery because it was allegedly a third offense. She was charged with one felony for larceny from the person and two misdemeanors, one for Domestic Simple Assault and Battery and the other for Obstructing an Officer.
According to the arrest report, police arrived and found Acosta outside on a porch. Suitcases, clothes and shoe boxes were scattered around the porch. He told them he and his girl friend of some four years broke up the day before. She left with his wallet and credit/debit card after they quarreled over money. He told police she ripped the wallet out of his jeans pants pocket and showed police the tear.
She returned home and told police she had left to do errands and took his wallet. She allegedly also said she threw the wallet out the window but could not remember where. She also claimed he bit her on the wrist and stomach and struck her.

Police said they saw a mark on her skin, although the skin was not broken. After investigating, they arrested them both.
