Newport Police: Arrests For Sunday, Aug. 13
Police arrested two suspects on Sunday. They were charged with Domestic Vandalism in connection with unrelated incidents.

NEWPORT, RI — Here are the arrests and citations for Sunday, Aug. 13. Information comes from the police log.
Brett DeShawn Robertson, 30, of Newport, turned himself in at the police station at 1:19 p.m. He was wanted on an arrest warrant in connection with an incident that happened July 4 and was reported on July 11. According to the arrest report, Robertson allegedly put his fist through a van window and shattered the glass. Originally, the victim told police she was trying to drive away and their young son was in the van at the time, but she later retracted that part of her statement. Robertson said he was attempting to stop her from driving because she was intoxicated. However, police charged him with a misdemeanor, Domestic Vandalism (malicious injury to property).
Pedro F. Wheeler, 25, of Newport, was given a summons at 4:35 p.m. for Disorderly Conduct (threats) and Domestic Vandalism (malicious injury to property) in connection with an incident that happened on America's Cup Avenue near The Boathouse. According to the arrest report, Wheeler confronted an ex- girlfriend and her male companion when they were stopped in a traffic jam. He allegedly smashed the car's side view mirror and also broke the rear driver side stop light lens. Then, later, in a car, he allegedly leaned out the window and shouted a threat at the woman. Police responded to the area for a report about two men fighting. They took Wheeler to the hospital because his hand was bleeding. He declined to tell police how the injury happened. Officers gave him a court summons.
