NEWPORT, RI — Police cited one person for a noise violation and one person for a traffic violation. Two people were charged with crimes. Information comes from the police log.

July 20

Brian R. Guillemette, 48, of Newport, was stopped at 9:53 p.m. at Castle Hill and Commonwealth avenues. He was cited for Driving after his license was revoked or suspended.

July 21

Fernando DeJesus Munoz-Escobar, 35, of Newport, was charged at 12 a.m. with Domestic Simple Assault or Battery; Domestic Refusal to Relinquish the telephone and Domestic Disorderly Conduct. The victim told police she feared for her life and for her son but had been afraid to call police because she entered the U.S. without proper documentation.

Kenneth J. DaSilva, 35, of East Wareham, Mass., was arrested at 12:44 a.m. in the Cumberland Farms parking lot on Broadway. He allegedly was selling heroin. An undercover officer made contact with him by using a cell phone seized from another drug suspect. Through text messages, the police and DaSilva arranged to meet at the Dunkin' Donuts on Broadway. DaSilva was charged with Manufacturing, Possessing and Delivering Schedule I/II drugs.

Elizabeth Olt, 19, of Newport, was cited at 12:51 a.m. with a noise violation for hosting a party on Young Street. She was also charged with underage drinking.
