NEWPORT, RI — Here are recent arrests and citations. Information is from the Newport police log. All the accused are innocent until proven guilty.
July 27
Abigail Duffy, 22, of Middletown, was charged at 2:10 a.m. with Disorderly Conduct and Obstructing an officer. Police were called to Bowery Street and Anthony Court at 1:45 a.m. for a report about a man pulling a woman into Aquidneck Park. Police said they found two men and a woman who said they had forgotten where they parked their car. As they searched the area, they started to quarrel. One of the men said Duffy threw his six-pack of beer into the park. Officers found the six-pack. Duffy quarreled with police and ultimately was given a summons.

Danielle Leigh Unger, 29, of Newport, was charged at 10:55 p.m. with Domestic Simple Assault or Battery, third offense. She was arrested at an Edgar Court apartment. According to police, she and her mother quarreled over cigarettes. Unger allegedly picked up a baseball bat and hit her mother in the back of the head.

Police responded to an apartment at 640 Thames St., at 10:14 p.m. and again on July 28 at 11:34 p.m. for multiple complaints about noise. Kate Scannell, Laurene Buckley, Aisling Fitzgerald, and Claire O' Sullivan, all 20, all of Newport, were given a summons for violating the ordinance.
