Newport Police Made One Arrest Monday Morning
Kareem Cooper, 20, of Newport, turned himself into police on Monday. He was wanted on a warrant for a fight on April 11.

NEWPORT, RI—Kareem Cooper, 20, of Newport, turned himself into police at the Broadway station on Monday morning at 8:53 a.m. He was wanted on a warrant in connection with an April 11 fight. According to the arrest warrant, a woman called officers to one of the housing authority's properties at 6:13 p.m. on April 11 to report an assault. Vincent Yates and his brother, Cooper, had "jumped" her boyfriend, she told police. There was a fight. People inside the apartments ran out and broke it up, police said.
The victim told police he wanted to press charges. They obtained a warrant for Cooper's arrest.
