Newport Republicans Endorse Flanders

Former Supreme Court Justice Robert Flanders is eyeing Sheldon Whitehouse's U.S. Senate seat.

NEWPORT, RI - From Flanders For Senate: Former Rhode Island Supreme Court Justice and Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate, Judge Robert Flanders, was endorsed this week by the Newport Republican Town Committee in a unanimous vote in support of Judge Flanders’s candidacy.

The endorsement occurs before the June 27th Republican nominating convention. The Newport Republican Town Committee's endorsement is the second endorsement Judge Flanders has earned, in addition to the endorsement of the Warwick Republican Town Committee.

Members of the Newport Republican Town Committee cited Judge Flanders’s extensive experience, which includes his record of public service and professional private practice, along with his integrity and demonstrated leadership, as grounds for their decision. "Judge Flanders," the Committee expressed, "will serve as an effective legislator in the Senate and as a voice of reason who will put an end to years of radical partisanship. He is someone who is committed to selfless public service and invested in addressing the real issues that matter to Rhode Islanders and the country."
