NEWPORT, RI — With April vacation less than a week away and summer vacation looming large, there are several important dates to mark on the calendar before the end of the school year in June. Here are five things to know for the remainder of the school year.

  1. Spring Vacation: April 15-19 Newport students have a full-week spring recess, which includes Good Friday on April 19.
  2. Early Release: May 9 Students will be dismissed 90 minutes early on May 9 for a teacher professional development day.
  3. Memorial Day: May 27 Memorial Day weekend is the unofficial kickoff to the summer season and the last three-day weekend of the school year.
  4. High School Graduation: June 6
  5. Last Day of School (180th Day): June 17
