Newport Shooting Suspects Detained at New York Bus Stop
The New York Port Authority Police Department arrested the two suspects on Monday.
The two men wanted in connection with the shooting of a man outside the Festival Field Apartment Complex in Newport on Friday are in police custody.
Newport Police Sgt. Corey Huck said Tuesday morning that Christopher Rodriguez, 22; and Joshua Melendez Torres, 20, are in the custody of the New York Port Authority police after they were detained at a bus station in the city.
Huck said both men were arrested Monday morning and are due to be brought to Newport for arraignment.

Both men were wanted in connection with the Friday afternoon shooting during which a man was shot in the chest with a shotgun.
The victim, 25, drove himself to Saint Anne’s Hospital in Fall River after the shooting and suffered non life-threatening injuries, police said.

Newport police believed that both men would be heading to the New York area.
Torres and Rodriguez were wanted on charges of assault to commit a felony, murder and conspiracy, and assault to commit a felony.
