Newport String Project To Perform With Acclaimed Quartet
The Newport String Project will perform with the Apple Hill String Quartet at a special spring concert on April 14.
NEWPORT, RI — An internationally-acclaimed string quartet is coming to Rhode Island for a special concert with the Newport String Project. On April 14, the Apple Hill String Quartet will perform at Ochre Court at Salve Regina Univeristy in an afternoon of storytelling and folk music.
The two groups will perform music by Andrea Tarrodi and Dmitri Shostakovich, as well as "five Animal Stories" by Mike Kelley, which was inspried by traditional Armenian folk tales.
The Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music in New Hampshire is known for performing traditional and little-performed music, as well as music from across the world.

The concert is part of a collaboration between the Newport Daffodil Days Festival and Salve Regina University.
The concert is open to the public and will begin at 3 p.m. Suggested donations for the event are $10, $25 or $50.
