Newport Woman, 20, Charged with DUI after Crash
A male passenger was hurt and transported to Newport Hospital for facial injuries.

A 20-year-old Newport woman was charged with driving under the influence and underage possession of alcohol on Monday after she allegedly crashed into a stone wall on Beach Hill Road and police found open containers of wine in her car.
Police said Kennedy A. Oliveira, of 31 Stockholm St., was arrested after officers responded to the area of Beacon Hill Road and the Swiss Village for a report of an accident with injuries.
Oliveira’s Toyota Avalon was disabled in the middle of the road, blocking both lanes of travel. Both airbags had deployed.

Olivieria denied drinking and repeated multiple times that she had run out of gas, according to a police report, but inside the car, officers could smell alcohol.
Police searched the car and reported finding a broken Panera Bread cup with a small amount of what was believed to be wine. They also found a Poland Spring bottle containing wine between the front passenger seat and the door.
Police also found a quarter-full 1.5 liter bottle of Pinot Grigio in the trunk.
Oliveira told police that she struck a patch of ice and lost control, causing her to strike the rock wall on the south side of the road. She allegedly failed a field sobriety test at the scene and was taken into custody without incident.
