Newport Woman Charged with DUI Registers .336 BAC
Police said a good Samaritan watched her drive onto the sidewalk on Hope Street, got out of her own car, walked over and took away the keys.

Newport police said a 25-year-old Newport woman facing charges of driving under the influence registered a .336 blood alcohol level reading in a breath test nearly two hours after she drove onto the sidewalk on Hope Street Tuesday night.
And a good Samaritan, identified by police as Dorcie Sarantos, prevented potential tragedy after she took the keys from the driver, identified as Brielle M. Sheeky, who reportedly was so heavily intoxicated, she couldn’t hold up her head and had to be transported to Newport Hospital for treatment, which including a stay in the trauma unit until her condition stabilized.
Police said Sheeky drove onto the sidewalk opposite the good Samaritan’s car and stopped at around 10:30 p.m.

Sarantos thought it was strange the car would park there and told police that Sheeky seemed to be in distress, so she got out and quickly could tell that Sheeky was “in no condition to drive,” took the keys and called police.
Officers reported Sheeky was dazed and sweating profusely, telling officers she had taken several prescription drugs but had not been drinking.

She was unable to complete a field sobriety test and transported to the hospital where she was treated for several hours.
In her car, police reported finding several bottles of prescription drugs and at the hospital, Sheeky admitted to drinking and taking Xanax, according to a police report.
Nearly two hours after police first found Sheeky in her car on the sidewalk, while still at the hospital, she reportedly registered the .336 BAC reading -- more than four times the legal limit.
Sheeky did refuse a chemical test while at the hospital at around midnight.
All told, Sheeky was charged with driving under the influence and driving with a suspended and is due to appear in District Court for arraignment on Sept. 10.
She was issued a Rhode Island Traffic Tribunal Summons to appear on Sept. 11.
