Newport Woman Charged with Shoplifting Jameson Whiskey

Fifth Ward Liquors gave police a video which shows a suspect putting a bottle in a red and white strip bag, police allege.

NEWPORT, RI—Brielle M. Sheekey, 28, of Newport, turned herself into Newport police on Tuesday at 11:11 a.m. She was wanted on a warrant for shoplifting. According to the arrest report, on Oct. 12 around 12:40 p.m., Sheekey was videotaped with a bottle of Jameson Whiskey in her left hand. The videotape, which was taken inside Fifth Ward Liquors, then indicates she passed the bottle into a red and white stripe shopping bag she was carrying on the right side of her body.

Police interviewed the store owner, who said he wanted charges pressed and would not accept restitution. Sheekey was charged with shoplifting, police said.
