Newport Woman Charged With Stealing More Than $10K Worth Of Property: Cops

The Newport woman was also charged with accessing a computer for fraudulent purposes, police said.

NEWPORT, RI — A Newport woman was charged with stealing more than $10,000 worth of property, police said.

Martha Russo, 36, was arrested shortly after 9 a.m. Monday, the Rhode Island State Police said in a media release.

Russo was also arrested on a charge of accessing a computer for fraudulent purposes and on a warrant charging her with failing to appear in court, according to the release.

"The arrest was a result of an investigation conducted by members of the Hope Valley Barracks, and a subsequent warrant check," the release said.

Russo was processed at the Wickford Barrackstaken to Third Division District Court for an arraignment, according to the release.
