NEWPORT, RI — A local woman ran the Boston Marathon on Monday in memory of her late father. Katie Humphrey, 30, completed the iconic run in just under five hours. Humphrey raised $5,800 for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
Humphrey ran the marathon in honor of her father, Jay, who passed away in 2010 from pneumonia following a bone marrow transplant. Her family credits the Dana-Farber Institute with improving his quality of life for the eight years after he was diagnosed with a rare blood disorder.
