NEWPORT, RI — It may be meteorological spring, but snowflakes are finally on the way to Rhode Island. After a snow-free month, flakes are back in the forecast for Friday night, along with strong winds that could lead to power outages in parts of the state.

Strong winds are likely across the state on Friday, with gusts reaching 50 mph in coastal areas and 55 mph on Block Island.
