North Kingstown Man Takes Wrong Turn on Bliss, Lands in Jail

Police arrested a man who was speeding on his tire rims, after he took a fast turn down Bliss Road.

NEWPORT, RI—Jesse M. Fielding, 30, of North Kingstown, was charged with Driving under the Influence of Drugs or Alcohol, his first offense, and Refusal to Submit to a Chemical Test.

Police said he was spotted on Broadway at 12:49 a.m. on Dec. 16 when he made a fast turn at high speed down Bliss Road. He was driving with a flat tire, which was down on the rim.

Fielding told police the tire had popped on Broadway, and he was driving to a safe location to stop. He initially claimed he lived "here," police said.

He was also cited for failing to use the turn signal and for driving on an expired registration, police said.
