Not Quitting His Day Job
Newport Grand worker campaigns in Tiverton for new casino.

TIVERTON, RI -- So, that's Jon Campion, of Newport, holding a "Yes" sign outside the Tiverton High polling place on Tuesday. As a Newport resident, he couldn't vote in Tiverton but went there on his day off "because it's that important," he said.
Campion works at the Newport Grand slots parlor, which will be replaced with a casino-style gambling casino in Tiverton, if voters pass both Question 1 on the statewide ballot and Question 8 on Tiverton's ballot.
"They're good jobs," he said. He's in line to land one at the Twin River-Tiverton casino, if the measure passes.
