Parking Bans In Place Ahead Of Jan. 17 Snowstorm

The first real snowstorm of 2020 is expected to hit Rhode Island on Saturday, with up to six inches of accumulation possible in parts of the state. Ahead of the flying flakes, parking bans have already been declared in several Rhode Island communities, with several more likely to follow suit in the coming hours.

According to the latest forecast from the National Weather Service, the snow is expected to start around 4 p.m. and continue throughout the evening hours.

The following towns have parking bans in place:

• Bristol: 10 p.m. Saturday until 7 a.m. Sunday
• Burrillville: 5 p.m. Saturday until 8 a.m. Sunday
• Central Falls: 12 p.m. Saturday until 12 p.m. Sunday
• Cranston: 5 p.m. Saturday until 7 a.m. Sunday
• Cumberland: 3 p.m. Saturday until 12 p.m. Sunday
• East Greenwich: 6 p.m. Saturday to 6 a.m. Sunday
• Lincoln: 12 p.m. Saturday until 6 a.m. Sunday
• Narragansett: 6 p.m. Saturday until 6 a.m. Sunday
• North Kingstown: 5 p.m. Saturday until 8 a.m. Sunday
• North Providence: 12 p.m. Saturday until 12 p.m. Sunday
• North Smithfield: 12 p.m. Saturday until 6 a.m. Sunday
• Pawtucket: 12 p.m. Saturday until 8 a.m. Sunday
• Portsmouth: 5 p.m. Saturday until 6 a.m. Sunday
• Scituate: 3 p.m. Saturday until 12 p.m. Sunday
• South Kingstown: 4 p.m. Saturday until 11 p.m. Sunday.
• Tiverton: 5 p.m. Saturday to 6 a.m. Sunday
• Warwick: 8 p.m. Saturday until 12 p.m. Sunday
• West Greenwich: 2 p.m. Saturday until 8 a.m. Sunday
• West Warwick: 4 p.m. Saturday to 6 a.m. Sunday
• Woonsocket 3 p.m. Saturday until 11 a.m. Sunday

In addition, Swinging Squares in Pawtucket has canceled its scheduled dance due to inclement weather.

The North Providence Assembly of God canceled service at the Providence campus on Saturday night, and North Scituate Baptist Church canceled all services on Sunday.

Mishnock Barn in West Greenwich will be closed on Saturday evening.
