NEWPORT, RI — Wakefield native Capt. Ian Johnson on Aug. 18 took command of Naval Station Newport. Mass Communication Specialist 2nd Class Jess Lewis sent these photos of the ceremony. He was a South Kingstown High graduate before he went on to college and graduate school.

Capt. Ian L. Johnson, commanding officer, Naval Station Newport, piped ashore following a change of command ceremony on the base. During the ceremony, Johnson relieved Capt. Dennis Boyer as the commanding officer of the base.
