Pierre Cardin To Miss Fashion Show At The Breakers
Pierre Cardin is unable to travel to Newport and will miss the fashion show on Saturday.

NEWPORT, RI — The show will go on. But Pierre Cardin will not be there. The Preservation Society said Thursday that the legendary fashion designer unexpectedly is unable to travel, and therefore will not be able to attend the retrospective runway show that he created for Newport.
But Cardin made it clear everyone should carry on.
"I regretfully inform you that I will not be able to travel to Newport due to a recent accident," he wrote. "Please forgive me and inform everyone involved of my unforeseen absence. Sadly, I will not have the pleasure to be with you to attend the show that I personally designed, from start to finish, for Newport. I wish you much success in this incredible enterprise, and the show must go on."

The show will take place at The Breakers this Saturday evening, June 17.
"Even though he will not be with us in person on Saturday," said Trudy Coxe, executive director, "he will deliver a personal message from Paris to everyone in attendance. It is his express desire that 'the show must go on.'"

Cardin's Director of Haute Couture Maryse Gaspard and others of his inner circle are on hand to ensure a spectacular show.
