Police Arrest One Roommate After Argument Over Scratched Cooking Pans

A 21-year-old Newport woman was charged with two domestic offenses after she allegedly shoved a roommate in their home.

NEWPORT, RI—Daeshiana M. Howard, 21, of Newport, was charged on Feb. 14 at 10 p.m. after a roommate accused her of shoving her in a hallway inside their home.

According to the arrest report, Howard denied pushing anyone. She told police she was resting in her bedroom with the door closed when one of her roommates opened the door and accused her of scratching some kitchen pans. Howard denied doing so, but the argument continued in a hallway, where the victim and her boyfriend claim Howard pushed her.

The boyfriend stepped in and took his girl friend back to her own room.

Howard told police she spends most of her time at home in her room because she doesn't like her roommates but will not move because she's already paid her rent in full.

The victim had called police earlier the same day to complain Howard was making threats. She acknowledged she did open Howard's bedroom door and confront her about the scratched pans.
